Community Overview

Bayonet Point is an unincorporated residential community in western Pasco County, situated on Florida's Gulf Coast, just north of New Port Richey and south of Hudson. It has a distinctly suburban atmosphere with easy access to US-19 and State Road 52, making it a practical location for easy access to shopping, dining out and healthcare access. The community is home to about 25,000 residents, including retirees, families and working professionals.

Parks, Nature and Outdoor Recreation

Although Bayonet Point is fairly developed, several parks and nature destinations are close by. Popular choices include:

  • Werner-Boyce Salt Springs State Park — one of the area's highlights, offering coastal marshes, hiking trails, kayaking, birdwatching, and Gulf access.

  • Robert J. Strickland Memorial Park — waterfront park with Gulf views, fishing, and sunsets.

  • Jay B. Starkey Wilderness Park — over 8,000 acres of pine flatwoods with biking, hiking, camping, and wildlife viewing.

  • SunWest Park — a reclaimed quarry transformed into a swimming lake with a sandy beach, paddleboarding, and an inflatable water park.

  • Anclote Gulf Park — boat launch, fishing, picnic areas, and Gulf access.

Residential Architecture & Housing Style

The homes in Bayonet Point reflect the area's major period of development during the 1960s through the 1980s. Overall, the architecture is practical and low-maintenance rather than ornate, emphasizing indoor-outdoor living and affordability.

You'll commonly find single-story block ranch homes with screened lanais, covered patios, and mature palm and oak landscaping. More recent subdivisions, such as portions of Beacon Woods, include larger homes built in the late 1990s and early 2000s with two-car garages and open floor plans.

Shopping

Most shopping is concentrated along US-19 and State Road 52. Within a 10–20 minute drive, residents can also reach larger retail districts in New Port Richey, including additional big-box stores, restaurants, and medical facilities.

  • Bayonet Square Shopping Center and Point Plaza on highway 19 at highway 52.

  • Tower Oaks Terrace and Plaza of the Oaks at the intersection of highway 52 and Little Rd.

  • Sunshine Plaza on highway 52 between highway 19 and Little Rd.
